Expanded LTD Improvements

More faculty and staff will be fully covered in the university’s Expanded Long-Term Disability plan, and employees will see a shorter wait time for automatic enrollment as of Jan. 1, 2014. The changes keep U-M competitive with peer institutions without increasing costs.

ROTH Savings Plans

After-tax Roth contributions for retirement savings plans are available options on the university's 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Account (SRA) and 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan effective January 1, 2013.  By making after-tax contributions, qualified distributions are tax free.

Changes to retiree health care benefits effective 1/1/2013

The university will go forward with changes to retiree health benefits beginning in 2013, the university’s executive vice presidents and associate vice president for human resources said in a joint message to faculty and staff.
